Waterfowl
Chattokee Lodge offers the finest wild duck hunting
and goose hunting available in this area. Our ponds are designed, built, and managed for
waterfowl hunting. They are planted in millets and other grains and flooded for the
season. There are also a number of Beaver ponds and swamps that normally hold birds
especially when the Water Oaks are dropping acorns. We typically have good populations of
Mallards, Gadwall, Teal, and Wood Ducks that frequent our hunting areas.
In the regular waterfowl season, we can accommodate
up to 10 hunters and require a minimum of 4 to book a hunt. To limit hunting pressure, we
hunt 2 days a week, usually back to back but not limited to weekends which gives each of
our areas 8 to 15 days rest. Most of our permanent hunting areas have 2 spacious blinds
that will accommodate up to 4 people and have been built to keep you out of inclement
weather.
If you prefer to strictly goose hunt, we have huge
flocks of resident geese that visit our agricultural fields and the flats on Lake Weiss.
We are also fortunate that Alabama offers an early goose season that typically begins
September 1st with very liberal limits. During this season, we will accommodate
a maximum of 4 hunters due to the fact that changing locations is common.
