Fly Fishing for Carp, Stripers and Trout |
Chattokee Lodge gives the fly fisherman an opportunity to hook up with big freshwater fish. Most fish will range from 5 to 8 pounds but there are some that will put you into your backing in a heartbeat. Alabama is not notorious for trout fishing but Chattokee Lodge has exclusive access to phenomenal private trout water. We invite you to experience Alabama trout fishing at it's finest where you will have the opportunity for a true trophy fish. Note: We offer a limited number of trophy trout trips per month and are scheduled on weekends only. See fishing rates for more information. Fly fishing for Carp, also known as "the poor mans bonefish", is becoming very popular due to the abundance, size and fight of these fish. Spend a day or two with our guides poling the shallow flats of Weiss Lake as you take shots at these spooky hard fighting fish. If you enjoy sight casting at tailing fish then this experience is a must. For the fly fishing enthusiast who would like to target stripers on fly, 2 different methods are productive depending on the season. During the winter months, stripers school and gorge themselves on shad on the shallow flats Weiss Lake providing an excellent chance to hook up with these hard fighting fish. In the summer, stripers congregate in the cooler waters of the rivers and streams. Float fishing from a kayak or canoe is the preferred method of targeting these fish. Note: We promote and practice catch and release on all fly fishing adventures. Other Fishing Adventures Known as the "Crappie Capitol of the World" and becoming recognized as an excellent Striper and Largemouth fishery, the 30,200 acre Weiss Lake and all of it's tributaries are right out our back door. We can make arrangements for you to spend a day or two with the best guides on the lake or feel free to bring your own boat. Please note that guides on Weiss lake typically are booked a year in advance for Crappie during the months February through April. We can also treat you to a leisurely float trip with light tackle on Little River in search of Red Eye Bass. The fishing can be non-stop action while at the same time enjoying the beauty of a pristine river atop Lookout Mountain. Four, six and eight hour trips are available.
